The 11th Canadian Edition continues to make economics accessible to students and has been updated to include new real-world examples, problems and assessment material.
Both Macroeconomics and Microeconomics have been closely scrutinized to ensure that the language is clear and simple and that technical or pretentious words and phrases are replaced with simple ones and a narrative flow is maintained. Additionally, names and pronouns have been revised to ensure that the texts are gender-neutral and inclusive.
The 11th edition has been reviewed by an academic using an Indigenous economics lens. The authors have incorporated their feedback throughout the narrative of the text. The authors have changed the name of our "Great Economists" boxes to "Economists of Note" and revised several of them to feature more recent economists and their contribution to the field.
The authors have made some changes to the Instructor's and Student Manuals for this edition. The Student Answer Key has been renamed "Student Solutions Manual" to better reflect that it is intended for students' review. The Instructor's Manual is now the "Complete Instructor's Manual" and includes all answers from the text, including those previously found in the Answer Key only.
Explanations for the answers to the It's News to Me and The Impossible Answer boxes have been added to both the Complete Instructor's Manual and the Student Solutions Manual.

CONCISE COVERAGE. Principles of Microeconomics provides a concise introduction to microeconomics without sacrificing rigour, guiding students' learning through understandable visuals and graphics that integrate with and clearly explain the concepts in the text.
ACTIVE LEARNING APPROACH.Test Your Understanding question boxes appear at important points throughout the main body of each chapter. These boxes give students immediate feedback on how well they understand the more abstract concepts discussed. In addition, the integrated Study Guide encourages students to actively learn concepts, and then immediately apply what they have learned with the problem material.
INTEGRATED STUDY GUIDE. To encourage active learning with students, a Study Guide section immediately follows each chapter. The Study Guide is organized into two sections: a Review and a set of problems. These include a Comprehensive Problem, Study Problems, and Problems for Further Study. The Review section contains a feature called What's the Big Idea? that sums up the main idea of the chapter in a student-friendly manner. There is also a section that lists New Glossary Terms and Key Equations.
GRAPHING RESOURCES. At the beginning of the text, the Economics Toolkit includes a Graphing Reality section that provides students with a primer on how to interpret and create tables and graphs. Available in Connect, Interactive Graphs help students see the relevance of the subject matter by providing visual displays of real data for students to manipulate and experience learning to read and interpret graphs and data. Graphing Exercises provides students with opportunities to draw, interact with, manipulate, and analyze graphs in online assignments.
