New Chapter on Reintegration into the Community. New to the third edition, this chapter explores community reintegration efforts for incarcerated individuals when they are released from custody. As a critical element in the criminal justice system, the chapter explores the complexity of the reintegration process in Canada and the relationship between successful reintegration and the recidivism rate.
Extensive updates to Chapter 3. The Policing chapter has been substantially revised to expand on discussions of diversity, including updated wording in all box features with an increased focus on making language and coverage more inclusive. A new box feature has also been added on policing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
New Diversity Feature. New to this edition, the Diversity Wins new box feature explores the connection to and impact of diversity (or lack thereof) in the criminal justice system.
Updates to Every Chapter. The third edition of Criminal Justice includes updates to every chapter to highlight current trends and processes in the criminal justice system, and the social impact of these trends.
Current Canadian content. The third edition of Criminal Justice examines the criminal justice system by including updated legislation, timely examples, and recent criminal cases.
Case Studies. To engage students, each chapter opens with a current case study to introduce the reader to the chapter’s main topics.
A balanced approach. The new edition offers in-depth content while also providing opportunities for application, making this resource ideal for both college and university students. Each of the main components of the criminal justice system - courts, police, and corrections - are explored to help students understand the relationship between the law and themselves.
Readability. Antonacci maintains its tradition of readability with author Gina Antonacci back as author of the third edition. Her delivery style is appreciated and enjoyed by both students and instructors.
