Understanding Human Sexuality - 2026 Release

Inclusive Language. Special care was taken to include inclusive language that reflects Canada’s diversity, and to not make normative assumptions. Examples include “partner” rather than “spouse,” "partnerships" rather than "couples," and language that applies equally to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and heterosexual students as well as to both cisgender, transgender, and non-binary individuals.

Updates to Every Chapter. Every chapter of the Canadian 2026 Release has been updated to include the latest research, up-to-date studies, research design, and measurements.

Critical Thinking Assignment. Available within Connect, the Critical Thinking Assignment is an active reading and critical thinking tool that helps guide students through the process of critical reading and analysis before, during, and after reading. Critical Thinking Assignment provides students the opportunity to read real-world texts analytically and critically by guiding them through the thinking required for deep understanding. Instructors can build assignments that ask students to complete tasks such as reflecting on a text, responding to a text, analyzing a piece of writing, or evaluating a source. Instructors can choose from a library of carefully chosen documents, upload their own documents, or assign students to upload their own documents.
