Inclusive Access and the Impact on Student Outcomes: A Research-Driven Perspective

Time: 12:00pm – 12:45pm ET
Subject: Inclusive Access

Session Overview

Over the last several years, Inclusive Access course materials models have been growing across institutions in Canada. While the main benefit touted by these programs has been the reduced cost and increased access to course materials for students, little is known about the link between Inclusive Access and increased student outcomes.

Please join Dr. Mike Moore as he shares his research on the impact of Inclusive Access models on student outcomes by examining students who had their required course materials provided on or before the first day of class, as part of an Inclusive Access program, compared to students who had the responsibility of sourcing their own required course materials.

Guest Speaker

Dr. Michael Moore, Research Scientist, University of New Hampshire

Mike Moore is a Research Scientist at the University of New Hampshire. Mike is actively researching the impact course materials interventions have on student outcomes. He has completed two quantitative studies on Inclusive Access course materials models and their impact on student success rates and a quantitative study on course completion rates between participants and non-participants of an Equitable Access course materials model. Before moving into academia, Mike worked in the bookstore industry, which provides him a unique perspective in his research. Mike has an ongoing research agenda to further investigate the effectiveness of inclusive and equitable access course materials models across higher education.
